It looks like the Bellas will be competing against a Filipino-American group in the latest addition to the 'Pitch Perfect' franchise.

The Filharmonic -- an a cappella group that got its start on NBC's reality show, The Sing Off -- has been cast in the upcoming sequel to the popular 2012 film.

"We can't say too much about our roles in the movie, but we will be one of the groups competing against the Bellas," group member Joe Caigoy recently told the Filipino news site Rappler.

The six member group formed specifically to audition for the NBC music competition last year. Since then, the singers say they've developed their own unique musical identity.

"We've sort of found our niche to be more of an R&B/jazz feel incorporated into top 40 hits," singer Jules Cruz told Rappler. The group also says their Filipino roots remain a vital influence in their lives and art.

"Being an American Filipino Pinoy is a hard identity to balance out," said singer Niko Del Rey. "We are not only trying to portray our natural birthright culture of America but we're also trying to inherit the culture of our ancestors in a predominantly American society."
