The mom of the 16-year-old Virginia girl who police say was brutally raped by the same man who kidnapped a Philadelphia woman off the street is seething with rage against her young daughter’s alleged attacker. “I just want to kill him,” the Richmond woman told NBC affiliate WWBT on Thursday.

The woman, whom NBC News is not naming, also had a personal message for 37-year-old suspect Delvin Barnes after learning that he allegedly threatened to kill her daughter. “God bless him. You did not succeed,” she said, “and I hope that your ass fry in hell.”

Barnes was caught Wednesday after a three-day manhunt stretched from Philadelphia to Maryland. The kidnapped woman, Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, was rescued in the search. While Barnes faces federal kidnapping charges in the case, the alleged rape of the 16-year-old is the priority, sources told NBC News. Barnes was transferred from Baltimore County, Maryland, to the Riverside Regional Jail in Virginia, where he is being held on an arrest warrant.

On Oct. 1, investigators say, Barnes randomly found his 16-year-old victim and hit her on the head with a shovel before abducting her in the trunk of his car. At his Charles City County home, he allegedly raped her and later doused her with bleach and gasoline. He even began to dig the girl’s grave, according to WWBT. “He told her that he was going to kill her,” her mom said, “that she was going to die.”

As he prepared her grave, the girl fled. She ran naked and bloodied to a building supply company about two miles down the road, police said. The girl was airlifted to a Richmond hospital, where her mom said she was treated for burns to her skin. “My daughter didn’t look like herself. It was devastating to watch,” she added.

Authorities said the girl picked Barnes out of a photo lineup and they were able to confirm his identity through DNA testing. Barnes is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday and will be arraigned on six charges, including rape and attempted murder. For the girl’s family, her recovery remains a traumatic time. “I can forgive,” the mother added. “But I will never forget.”

But in at least one way, the “weight of the world has been lifted” off the 16-year-old’s shoulders, said Capt. Jayson Crawley of the Charles City County Sheriff's Office. “She is relieved he has been captured, and that he’s not going to do this to any other victims,” Crawley said.
