1. NFL wives cheer judge's decision knocking down brain injury settlement

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the NFL's $765 million settlement to cover retired players' brain injuries may not be enough money in the long run. Wives of the former players who sued the league told NBC News they agree with the judge. Read more in INVESTIGATIONS.

2. 'Our citizens deserve better': Chris Christie apologizes for bridge fiasco

The scandal upstaged the New Jersey governor's State of the State address Tuesday, and he immediately apologized for his administration's “breach of trust” after it was revealed his top aides closed traffic lanes on a Fort Lee, N.J., bridge as political revenge. Read more in POLITICS.

3. Judge strikes down Oklahoma's ban on same-sex marriage

A district judge ruled the state's constitutional amendment limiting marriage to a man and woman doesn't uphold the U.S. Constitution. But there are still roadblocks for same-sex couples hoping to get married in the Sooner State. Read more in NEWS.

4. Hero teacher in New Mexico credited for stopping student shooter

A 12-year-old suspect seriously wounded two students at their Roswell, N.M., middle school Tuesday morning, police said. An eighth-grade social studies teacher helped talk down the boy. Read more in NEWS.

5. Google gets comfy after buying home hardware startup

The Silicon Valley giant plunked down $3.2 billion to buy Nest Labs, which produces interactive appliances for homes, such as a “Learning Thermostat.” It's another step to make homes more “connected,” observers say. Read more in TECH & SCIENCE.

6. Justin Bieber has egg on his face after deputies search home

A visitor at the pop star's Calabasas, Calif., mansion was arrested on felony narcotics charges Tuesday after sheriff's deputies found cocaine. But that was only after they arrived to investigate an allegation that Bieber had egged a neighbor's house. Read more in INVESTIGATIONS.
