HIPGive has launched a social media campaign called #LatinosGive in an effort to raise money for exciting, innovative projects for community organizations. HIPGive is a project of Hispanics in Philanthropy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing investment in Latino communities.

HIPGive originally pledged to match up to $20,000 in donations made through the platform Tuesday, December 1st, which is #GivingTuesday. The campaign was doing so well in the first half of the day that it added additional matching funds.

For Latinos, giving and sharing with family, friends and community is part of life. We grow up sharing food, stories, skills, laughter, warmth, and respect. The #LatinosGive campaign aims to remind us that we can help those organizations that do so much to provide much-needed services in our neighborhoods around the country. These organizations include those helping our children stay in school, offering college prep for our youth, ensuring immigrant families get health care, and giving hope to children with cancer.

The purpose of #LatinosGive is to help reshape the national narrative by encouraging Latinos to share everyday stories of how they give back to their families, communities, and society. Through this campaign HIPGive aims to “Latinize” #GivingTuesday (Dec. 1st), a global movement to celebrate and encourage generosity around the world.

NBC Latino and HIPGive will select the top #LatinosGive stories to be published on a special feature.
