The new Miss World hails from the Caribbean.
Miss Puerto Rico Stephanie Del Valle is 19 years old and was crowned the 66th Miss World Sunday night.
Del Valle is a pre-law and communications student at Pace University in New York City. She said it was an “honor and a great responsibility” to represent her island on an international stage.
The first runner-up was also from the nearby tropics; she was Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic. She was followed by Natasha Mannuela from Indonesia.
Miss World 2015, Mireia Lalaguna of Spain bestowed the iconic crown and sash to Del Valle at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
