NYC Principal Nadia Lopez Inspired A Viral Campaign, Raised Over $1M

Brooklyn, New York principal Nadia Lopez thought she was maybe not making a difference in her schoolchildren's lives; in fact, she was almost on the verge of quitting. Then one child was asked by a photographer for a "Humans of New York" campaign who influenced him most and why, and he named Ms. Lopez, because she told the students that they "mattered."

The touching response kickstarted a life-changing campaign for the principal, the students and the surrounding neighborhood, as NBC's Rehema Ellis reports.

"I never want you to feel like there's a cap to where you can go," Ms. Lopez told students in a school assembly.
