Sofia Vergara is getting animated in "The Simpsons" and is set to play a new role as Bart’s new school teacher, Mrs. Berrera.

Since Marcia Wallace, the actress who played Mrs. Krabappel, passed away in October 2013, Vergara’s character is set to replace the acting role in this episode and will pay special attention to Bart as he also will develop feelings for her, according to reports.

“We have a situation where Bart doesn’t have a regular teacher, so she may or may not come back,” said Al Jean, "The Simpsons'" executive producer. He added that the door will be left open for Vergara for future episodes.

Bart and Principal Skinner, his school principal will become love rivals as they both will develop feelings for Vergara’s character. “We thought it’d be interesting if both Bart and Skinner have a crush on the same woman. She feels Skinner is a wounded soul that she wants to take care of. She is a vet like Skinner, and that’s his attraction,” Jean said to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the story.

The episode, titled “Teenage Milk-Caused Hurdles," is expected to air on Sept. 27 on FOX.

Vergara also previously voiced characters on other animated sitcoms such as “Family Guy” and “The Cleveland Show."
