Five decades ago, Bill Clinton meets JFK

Arnie Sachs/CNP/Corbis

Fifty years ago today, on July 24, 1963, Bill Clinton shook hands with President John F. Kennedy in the Rose Garden of the White House. Clinton was a 16-year-old attending the American Legion Boys Nation program. Clinton says it was that handshake that inspired his life of public service. Nearly 30 years later, in January of 1993,  Bill Clinton was sworn in as the 42nd president.
