Crew Continues Two-Month-Long Battle Against Underground Blaze

The Pittston-based crew of Minichi Inc., which has been working on the Fell Township, Pa., culm dump fire site since mid-January, continues its effort to extinguish the underground blaze in Lackawanna County, on March 26. The fire was discovered in mid-December but continues to burn. The process of putting out the fire includes mixing the burning culm with water and moving the saturated culm to a new location on the site.
