NASA’s MODIS satellite captured this spectacular view of snow-band clouds over the Great Lakes Tuesday, as cold air and a lake-effect snowstorm pelted the lakes and parts of New York, dumping several feet of snow in certain areas. Temperatures were below freezing somewhere in all 50 states on Tuesday, including Hawaii, and more than 100 cities were poised to break record low temperatures.
