Bad call, Obama.

New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick gave a thumbs down Thursday to the president after he cracked a couple of jokes at the Super Bowl champs' expense during their White House visit.

The Patriots had been embroiled in controversy last season after they were accused of under-inflating 11 footballs used in the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. The scandal became known as "Deflategate."

"I usually tell a bunch of jokes at these events, but with the Patriots in town I was worried that 11 out of 12 of them would fall flat," Obama said as a smiling Belichick gave a thumbs down motion.

"That whole story got blown a little out of proportion," the president added.
