A person was arrested after a shooting at a Wisconsin bar left three people dead and three others injured, authorities said Sunday.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said in a statement that the person, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide.

The victims were not identified, and more than three people may have been injured, the department said.

The person was taken into custody after detectives followed multiple leads and reviewed surveillance video, the department said. Additional details about the arrest were not immediately provided.

Police said earlier that officers found the bodies at the Somers House Tavern in the north of the city. The wounded were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, the statement said.

"We believe our suspect knew who he was targeting," Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said at a news conference Sunday morning.

A person was asked to leave the bar and then returned and opened fire, Beth said. It was unclear whether the victims knew the shooter.

"The names, ages and cities of residence for the victims are still being determined," the statement said.

The road leading up to the tavern remained closed early Sunday, according to The Associated Press.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement that he was praying for the injured and the families of the victims as "they grieve and grapple with yet another tragic incident of gun violence."

"My heart breaks for Kenosha this morning in the wake of a shooting that took three lives and injured at least two others," Evers said. "I want to thank the first responders who reacted quickly and are still working to investigate and find those involved in this senseless tragedy."

Officials were investigating another mass shooting in Indianapolis, where eight people were killed at a FedEx warehouse Thursday.

Last month, four people were killed at an office shooting in California, eight people were fatally shot at massage businesses in the Atlanta area, and 10 people died in gunfire at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado.
