Many people spent the thirteenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks tweeting where they were that fateful day, but one former White House official decided to spend the day sharing a minute-by-minute account of his experience.

On Sept. 11, 2001, Ari Fleischer was serving as White House press secretary and was at President George W. Bush’s side. He kept detailed notes of what happened throughout the day. Thirteen years later, he live-tweeted at specific times to share what he was doing at that exact moment in 2001. His Twitter recollection begins at 8:40 a.m. when he and the president were traveling to a Florida elementary school and goes on to talk about what was happening behind the scenes as the day unfolded.
