The body of a newborn girl was discovered in a plastic bag in the garbage outside a sorority house in Ohio.

The baby, who authorities said was only hours old, was found on Thursday outside Delta Gamma Theta house at Muskingum University in New Concord.

The coroner suspects that the baby was suffocated, NBC affiliate WCMH reported.

Investigators have identified the mother as a student at the school, the station reported. Her name was not immediately released, and no charges were immediately filed.
