A fight broke out among five women aboard a cross-country flight Wednesday morning after two of them refused to turn down their music, according to the airline.

The two passengers "appeared to be intoxicated" and "were playing loud music on a boom box speaker" on the Baltimore to Los Angeles flight, Spirit Airlines said in a statement. When several other passengers asked them to lower the volume, the two women refused, asking, "What are you going to do?" while waving their boombox in the air, the airline said.

When the plane landed, an all-out brawl happened in the aisle — fists were flying and hair was pulled, all while stunned fellow passengers held their cell phones up to record the altercation.

Emerson Silva, one of the witnesses, told TODAY, "They were throwing serious punches. The ladies — they were serious."

Airport police were called and removed all five women involved, Spirit Airlines said. After speaking with them for an hour, police released them.

The FBI was also called in to investigate, although no one was charged, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller told NBC affiliate KNBC in Los Angeles.
