CLEVELAND — Cleveland transit officials are investigating a police officer's use of pepper spray on a crowd trying to prevent them from taking an intoxicated teenager to police headquarters.
The incident happened Sunday as a "Black Lives Matter" conference was ending, NBC affiliate WKYC reported.
The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority said officers were removing the 14-year-old boy from a bus because he was allegedly too intoxicated to care for himself.
The agency said Monday that officers were following the normal procedure of transporting the teen to headquarters to be released to a parent or guardian.
Transit officials say an officer used pepper spray when gathering crowds wouldn't allow the police car to leave. The boy later was released to his mother.
There weren't any arrests.
