A deal has been reached to resolve a sexual harassment suit against embattled San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, city officials said Wednesday night, but no one will say what it is.
Details of the settlement won't be disclosed until it's presented Friday to the City Council, which must approve it, City Attorney Jan Goldsmith said. And it may not emerge even then, because the proposal will be presented in a closed session.

"This is the process we follow. Any rumors you hear about the proposal you may deem to be untrue because the people standing here are the ones who know of it, and we have all committed that we will maintain the confidentiality of the mediation," Goldsmith said at a news conference with other top city officials.
The agreement follows three days of what's been described as "mediation" over a suit filed against Filner and the city by Irene McCormack Jackson, Filner's former communications director. The suit alleges that Filner made inappropriate sexual advances — allegations that have been echoed by at least a dozen other women.
Filner, 70, entered rehab in July and said he planned to return to work this week. But he hasn't been seen at City Hall.
