Eric Trump says he was spit on Tuesday night by an employee at a Chicago cocktail lounge.
Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a tweet that officers responded to the incident at the Aviary bar around 8:30 p.m.
“CPD was on scene and assisting the United States Secret Service with a law enforcement matter,” Guglielmi said.
Chicago Police directed all further inquiries about the incident to the Secret Service.
“We have no comment on the matter,” the Secret Service said.
Eric Trump condemned the spitting, telling NBC News it was a “disgusting act.”
Nick Kokonas, who co-owns the Aviary, said in a statement that while he cannot comment on the details of the matter, the employee involved has been put on leave.
"What is certain is this: No customer should ever be spit upon," Kokonas said.
Eric Trump, President Donald Trump’s third child, serves as the executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
