Thousands of firefighters from across the United States lined the streets of Boston on Wednesday for the funeral of Lt. Edward J. Walsh Jr., one of the two firefighters who died battling a blaze in a four-story apartment building on Beacon Street last week.

Firefighter Michael Kennedy, 33, also died on March 26 while battling the roaring nine-alarm fire in the historic Back Bay neighborhood. Kennedy's funeral is scheduled to be held on Thursday at the Church of the Holy Name, in West Roxbury, Mass.
