President George H.W. Bush will remain at a Houston hospital through the weekend, but his spokesman says the 90-year-old former head of state could soon be back home.
Bush, the 41st president of the United States, was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital Tuesday after suffering from shortness of breath. A spokesman said the hospital trip was just a precaution.
"President Bush's condition has improved to the point that doctors have begun discussing dates for his discharge," a spokesman for his office, Jim McGrath, said in a statement. "He will remain at the Houston Methodist Hospital through the weekend for further observation."
Bush spent nearly two months at Houston Methodist in January 2013 for a bronchitis-related cough and other health issues. This June, he skydived to celebrate the birthday milestone.
