A multiple murder suspect from Georgia was arrested at a bus station more than 260 miles from the home where he is accused of killing five people, authorities said Tuesday.
Authorities have been searching for Thomas Jesse Lee, 26, since the victims were discovered inside a home in Lagrange, Georgia, on Saturday night. One of the dead is believed to be Lee’s wife, investigators told NBC station WXIA.
The Troup County Police Department said Lee was arrested in Tupelo, Mississippi, on Monday afternoon. Officers from the Tupelo Police Department found the suspect at a local bus station and have taken him to Lee County Jail, according Theresa Sloan with the Lee County 911 dispatch center. Authorities from Georgia are en route, she added. NBC station WXIA reported that Lee had purchased a bus ticket to Alabama and was found with a dog belonging to the family of his victims.
