Tsarnaev wounds extensive: documents
Newly unsealed court documents reveal the extent of the injuries Boston marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev suffered before his capture in April. According to testimony by a trauma surgeon who treated Tsarnaev, the injuries included a gunshot wound that appeared to enter through the left inside of his mouth and exit through the lower left side of his face. Fort Hood trial turns to defense
Maj. Nidal Hasan, accused in the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood that killed 13 and wounded dozens, is about to get his best chance yet to try to explain his actions. The Army psychiatrist, acting as his own attorney, will be given the opportunity Tuesday to present his defense. But Hasan has kept mostly silent for two weeks as prosecutors called more than 80 witnesses to testify about the attack. Read it here.
‘Bored’ teens gun down jogger: police
An Australian baseball player out for a jog in an Oklahoma neighborhood was shot and killed by three "bored" teenagers who decided to kill someone for fun, police said. Christopher Lane, visiting his girlfriend, passed the house of three teens who police say shot him at random. The teens are expected to be arraigned in court on Tuesday. Read it here.
San Diego mayor's future murky
Negotiations are expected to continue Tuesday between embattled San Diego Mayor Bob Filner and city attorneys over the mayor’s future. Filner, who is accused of sexual harassment in a lawsuit, also faces a formal recall effort and federal and local investigations into his behavior on the job. Read it here.

Report: A-Rod set to sue

A dogfish-eat-dogfish world
Everyone knows the story: The little fish gets eaten by a big fish, and the big fish gets eaten by an even bigger fish, and so on. So it went in Delaware Bay before shocked scientists, when a dogfish that took the bait from researchers was quickly gobbled up by a sand tiger shark. Read it here.
