A mom was arrested Sunday after her three children were found with "life-threatening" knife wounds, according to police in Washington state.
Dispatchers received a call from the toddlers' father alleging that he had found them bleeding, Olympia Police Department Lt. Jim Costa told NBC News. Officers and paramedics arrived at the home arrived at the home around 1:30 a.m. PT (4:30 a.m ET) to discover a two-year-old and two six-month-old twins suffering from severe knife injuries to the neck, Costa said. Police say their father was in a different part of the house at the time of the attack.
The children underwent surgery at Tacoma's Mary Bridge Hospital where they were listed in critical condition on Sunday night. Their 29-year-old mother was arrested and booked on three counts of attempted murder. Prosecutors were expected to file formal charges on Monday, according to Costa.
