Six shot outside Oregon music venue, shooter at-large, Eugene police say

The incident happed Friday night at the WOW Hall in Eugene, Oregon, police said.

Six people were wounded in a shooting late Friday outside a music venue in Eugene, Oregon, police said.

Eugene police said they received reports at about 9:30 p.m. of multiple shots fired at the WOW Hall, and arrived to a "hectic scene" of people who had been shot near the back entrance to the venue, the department said in a statement.

One of the six people shot was in critical condition early Saturday. The five other people hospitalized were in stable condition, police said.

All but one victim were from out of town and appeared to have traveled to Eugene for the concert, police said. Two victims are female and four are male. Their ages have not been released.

No one was in custody in the shooting Saturday, and a detailed description of the shooter was not available.

Police Chief Chris Skinner requested witnesses send in videos or other information that could help identify the person responsible.

The FBI said it would provide any resources requested in the investigation.

Musical artists Lil Bean, Zay Bang and others were scheduled to perform at the WOW Hall on Friday night, according to an events calendar.

The hall is owned and operated by the Community Center for the Performing Arts, which also uses the space for art, lecturers and workshops, according to its website.

In a statement, center interim executive director Deb Maher and board chair Jaci Guerena said little information was available, but that they "heard gunshots in the back parking lot" and the motive was not known.

They thanked first responders and said all staff and volunteers are thought to be safe and accounted for.

"This is unprecedented at the WOW Hall," the statement said.
