LODI, Calif. — A skydiver has died after crashing against a wall next a road near the Lodi Airport, according to authorities.

San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office Lt. Steve Pease told NBC station KCRA that deputies were called to the scene at the parachute jump center at Lodi Airport Saturday.

Deputies do not know if the accident was caused by a malfunctioning parachute or the operator, Pease said.

He said the person hit a cinder block that wraps around a neighborhood and fell into a drainage ditch.

The FAA has been brought in to investigate, according to Pease.

No information about the skydiver has been released.
