A 17-year-old boy accused of "specifically" shooting at people visiting a gravesite was charged with murder after one of the victims died, Texas police said.
The Bell County district attorney’s office charged Christian Lamar Weston on Saturday, five months after the death of Yolanda N’Gaojia.
N’Gaojia, 52, was at a cemetery in Killeen on March 22 to visit her son's grave, according to a spokesperson for the Killeen Police Department. She and a second person were shot.
"The suspect went to the cemetery and specifically shot at the individuals that were there visiting a gravesite," spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said.
N’Gaojia died nearly two hours after the shooting and the second victim was released at the scene after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release.
Weston was arraigned and is being held without bond. He was also arraigned on an unrelated charge of carrying a weapon without a license; bond was set at $5,000. Attorney information was not available.
