United Express Plane Skids Off Runway After Landing in Buffalo, NY

United Airlines plane skids off runway 0:22

A United Express plane skidded off the runway as it landed in strong winds in Buffalo, New York, late Sunday.

Operated by Mesa Airlines, United Express Flight 3796 from Washington Dulles came to rest in a grassy area at about 11:30 p.m.

The plane encountered "some high winds” during the landing and “went past the runway a little bit,” United spokeswoman Jennifer Dohm told NBC News.

There were 69 passengers and three crew members aboard the aircraft, a Canadair CRJ regional jet. No injuries were reported.

"We got folks off the aircraft and into buses and to the terminal," Dohm said.

The airport was expected to operate as usual early Monday.
