Zoo Trespassing: Ohio Man Charged After Filming Self Petting Cougars

An Ohio man who posted a video of himself jumping a barrier at a zoo and then petting two cougars has been charged with trespassing.

An Ohio man who posted a video of himself jumping a barrier at a zoo and then petting two cougars has been charged with trespassing, according to zoo officials.

The man can be heard in the video saying "Kitty, Kitty, Kitty" as he reaches through a fence and strokes the animals behind the ears. The video was posted on YouTube last week.

NBC's affiliate in Columbus, Ohio, named the trespasser as Josh Newell.

"We're expecting you when you come into the zoo to enjoy yourself, and to follow the rules, stay behind the barriers, enjoy the animals, enjoy your day," Columbus Zoo President Tom Stalf told the station.

"But when someone comes with a different intention to either have a challenge or a joke or do something that could harm them or the animals then its going to go to the next level and that's with the sheriff's department," he added.
