Tornado Reported in Florida as Storms Sweep South

Dangerous tornadoes break out in South 0:52

A tornado was reported in the Florida panhandle on Monday, part of a line of strong morning storms sweeping the Southeast. A prison was damaged, and two members of the staff had minor injuries.

The tornado was confirmed by radar near the city of Bristol, The Weather Channel reported. The damaged prison was Calhoun Correctional Institution in nearby Blountstown. The facility was secure, The Weather Channel reported, and no inmates were injured.

The storms swept through Montgomery, Alabama, and Atlanta later in the morning. Tornadoes were possible in parts of Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina, The Weather Channel said.
