LOS ANGELES -- Two people were found dead Friday night in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide in a room at the Beverly Hilton, police said Saturday, just hours before the Daytime Emmy Awards are being held at the posh hotel.
Police responding to a report of a shooting found a man and a woman dead from gunshot wounds, Lt. Mark Rosen said.
Coroner's officials had yet to begin their investigation, but said the dead were a man in his late 60s and a woman in her mid-50s.
NBCLosAngeles.com said the shooting was reported at 10:50 p.m. Friday.
The Daytime Emmy Awards are scheduled to be held there later Saturday, the latest among several other annual galas that are held at the luxury hotel, including the Golden Globe Awards.
Whitney Houston drowned in the bathtub of her room there in February.
