A tour bus carrying 56 people rolled over and off a highway Thursday in the Canadian province of British Columbia, injuring everyone on board, six of them critically and 15 others seriously, authorities said. The cause of the accident, which occurred about 3 p.m. (6 p.m. ET) about 150 miles northeast of Vancouver, hadn't been determined, said Sgt. Norm Flemming of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Provincial health officials said at least 25 ground and air ambulances rushed to the scene. Most of the injured, about 40, were taken to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, the British Columbia Interior Health Authority said Thursday night. The others were taken to Kelowna General Hospital. Parts of Coquihalla Highway south of the town of Merritt weren't scheduled to reopen until mid-evening, British Columbia's Transportation and Infrastructure Ministry said.
