Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was first in line for an iPhone 4S at an Apple Store in Los Gatos, California on Friday morning, sharing his status on Twitter and location on Foursquare.
His location was also noted by Firefox co-founder Joe Hewitt, who just might be the "pissed" guy on the wrong side of the store described by Wozniak on Twitter and Foursquare. Hewitt, however, seemed more excited than angry, tweeting himself:
Woz and his Segway first in line at the Los Gatos Apple Store. Only one in line too!
And the excitement grew, as Hewitt tweeted later:
Still only one other guy in line at the LG Apple Store with Woz, but the TV news trucks are swarming. I expect hysteria tomorrow.
According to a report by USA Today, Wozniak waited in line since about 2 a.m. on Thursday even though two of the new Apple devices are being shipped to his home.
He explained, in an interview with TechCrunch, that he decided to wait in line — where he held the number one spot — because "it has meaning." He feels that the product is "an important part of life and this is just [his] way of recognizing it."
When asked about which features he was most excited about, Wozniak listed the upgraded camera and Siri voice recognition app found in the iPhone 4S.
Oh, and in case you're wondering: Woz said that he's purchasing a white Verizon iPhone 4S (for his wife) at the Apple Store. The devices being shipped to his home, on the other hand, are AT&T-based models.
