A search for seven Japanese divers missing off the resort island of Bali has turned up the body of a woman, police said Saturday.
Police said a man and six women had hired a boat for a dive Friday morning around mangroves in Crystal Bay, a popular diving spot, but a storm hit the area, The Associated Press reported.
The body of a woman believed to be from the group was found Saturday, the AP said.
Crystal Bay is off the island of Nusa Penida, which is about 12 miles east of Bali’s capital, Denpasar. The deaths of two foreign divers in 2012 prompted warnings about unpredictable currents in Crystal Bay.
Reports said the skippers of the dive boat were assisting in the search, but it wasn’t clear why they hadn't stayed with the divers.
A tornado was reported to have hit Denapasar on Friday, destroying 19 houses, the Jakarta Post said.
