EAST JERUSALEM - A crowd of thousands carried the body of a slain Palestinian teen through the streets of east Jerusalem amid extraordinary scenes on Friday. Israeli authorities handed over the badly burned body of Mohammed Abu Khader - who many in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank believe was killed by far-right Jews - to a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance in the middle of an intersection, outraging his family and many in the crowd. “This has no dignity and is insensitive,” the teen’s father Hussein Abu Khader told NBC News. Dozens of chanting and weeping Palestinians soon stormed the Red Crescent vehicle with the body, wrapped it in a Palestinian flag and carried it aloft through the streets to a nearby mosque. Residents lined the rooftops of nearby homes to watch the crowd grew to number thousands by the end of the mile-long walk.

The teen was buried later on Friday. Israeli have deployed extra forces throughout Jerusalem, barring men under the age of 50 from al Aqsa mosque complex, the city's most sacred Muslim site. Anger that bubbled since three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped on June 12 exploded over the week after their bodies were discovered on Monday.
