Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt has finally joined his company's social network, Google+ and his presence is being welcomed with comments like these:

Congrats +Eric Schmidt, you will now have 238843748374 people add you to your Circle :D

It's about time you joined G+. It's just a bit ironic to see people welcoming you rather than the opposite.

Welcome to what you and all the google engineers created and keep up the good work and don't stop thanks ian and where is the google nexus prime release thanks ian.

And this:

Sexy profile pic!

Schmidt's choice of his photo is interesting as it's a, shall we say, "younger" Eric Schmidt we see (please tell us you're not trying to pick up chicks, Mr. Schmidt), and the photo to the left is more representative of how Schmidt, 56, looks now.

No matter. So far, Schmidt hasn't shared a lot on Google+, but he did include links to some very thoughtful comments he made about Steve Jobs to Bloomberg Businessweek, and on CNBC and Charlie Rose.

We're not sure what took him so long to join the site, which went live in July. But we're pretty sure he got an invite.
