Explosion Along Israel’s Border With Syria Kills Teen Boy

JERUSALEM - One Israeli civilian died and two others were injured when a car exploded along the border with Syria, officials said.

The Israeli military said troops responded to what it described as the intentional attack by firing tank rounds at Syrian positions.

The explosion occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time (4:30 a.m. ET) in the northern Golan Heights along the border with Syria. It was not immediately clear if there was a bomb in the car or if the vehicle was hit by a missile.

Israel's military confirmed that a 15-year-old boy was killed but did not provide further details.
