Holy Sawdust Carpet Breaks World Record in Guatemala

The annual sawdust carpet-making tradition that takes place on Holy Thursday in Guatemala was recognized this year as a world record breaking piece.

Volunteers worked to make a traditional Guatemalan sawdust carpet in Guatemala City on Thursday. Taking place annually on Holy Thursday in preparation for the Easter holiday, the carpet-making tradition was recognized this year as the Guinness World Record for the longest sawdust carpet at 6,601 feet.
