Johnny Depp injured his hand while on location in Australia for the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, according to reports. The 51-year-old star was due to fly back to the United States for treatment, "an individual close to the production" told entertainment news website The Wrap. Variety reported it had confirmed the injury. NBC News could not immediately independently verify the reports.
Depp was not filming at the time of the incident and the release date of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" remained unchanged from July 7, 2017, a Disney spokesman told The Wrap. Depp was filmed by Australia's Seven News arriving at Brisbane Airport with a bandage on his right arm on Wednesday. The broadcaster said the actor was set to fly on to Los Angeles.
