Police investigating the disappearance of a 5-year-old Canadian boy and his grandparents said they are making progress but have not yet given any new details in the case. An Amber Alert is still in effect for Nathan O’Brien, who was reported missing by his mother when she went to collect her son from his grandparents, Kathryn and Alvin Liknes, on Monday morning in Calgary, Alberta.
Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus told reporters late Thursday that police had new information but could not say more. “We've obtained … video and film from both neighbors' homes and businesses in the area,” he said, according to broadcaster CBC. “I would say it’s less of a mystery but I can’t comment on the degree,” he added, according to the Calgary Sun newspaper. The Liknes are not considered suspects in the case, the Calgary Police Department said Thursday.
