Interview Conducted Via Email By: Giacinta Pace

Q: What is your charity and how did you get involved?

Goodbye Friday: We have a number of charities that we regularly support, such as The American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors and Musicians On Call. We raise funds and donate our time to each of them. MOC is probably our favorite charity because we get to see immediate results.

We got involved with MOC after reading an article about them and the difference they were making in patient care.  They were looking for volunteer musicians so we donated our time and 100 tickets to the New Jersey State Fair at the Meadowlands.  We were headlining a few dates at the Meadowlands and thought it was a great idea to provide free tickets to sick children and their families that were able to attend.

Q: Why is this charity important to you?

Goodbye Friday: MOC is important to us because through them we get to deliver the healing power of music. We get to perform our music in hospitals and hospices for many different people all of whom need their spirits lifted. We perform live, in-room music to patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their beds. Our performances help to add a dose of joy to patients’ lives in various healthcare facilities. We enjoy cheering up a lot of really sick people and their families, including many children and young adults. Our music usually cheers them up, brings a smile to their faces and heals their souls. That immediate gratification is very satisfying to us.

Q: Why should celebs support charities?

Goodbye Friday: Celebrities should support charities because it is a good thing and the right thing to do. It is a win-win situation whenever you are able to give back. Celebrities are in a unique position to bring needed attention to charitable causes and can lend their voices, influence, resources and connections to worthy endeavors.

Q: Do you have anything else to add?

Goodbye Friday: Everyone can make a difference and should strive to make that difference a positive one. Helping others can also be very therapeutic.  If we all give a helping hand, maybe together we can make the world a better place.
