New Jersey looks exactly like it looked in '09

Unlike in Virginia, the electorate in New Jersey looks exactly like it was in 2009, when Chris Christie (R) faced a competitive race against then-incumbent Jon Corzine (D), according to the early exit polls.

Party ID

2009: 41% Dem, 31% GOP, 28% independent

2013: 42% Dem, 27% GOP, 31% independent

Racial composition

2009: 73% white, 14% black, 9% Latino, 2% Asian

2013: 72% white, 15% black, 9% Latino, 3% Asian

The difference, of course, is that Christie has DONE MUCH better among these groups.

In 2009, Christie got just 8% among Democrats; now it’s 31%.

In 2009, Christie got just 9% of the black vote; now it’s 20%.
