A Palestinian woman stabbed a female Israeli soldier on Monday in an attack near Bethlehem, officials said.

Israeli Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the wounded female soldier was hospitalized "in moderate condition" following the attack at the Rachel crossing, south of Jerusalem near Bethlehem.

A 20-year-old Palestinian woman was detained at the scene with two knives, Rosenfeld added on Twitter.

Israel's military confirmed the attack and said the assailant had been taken for further questioning.
