A party intended to welcome college freshmen to a South Korean University ended in chaos when a roof collapsed, killing at least 10 people and trapping several others.
About 80 people were sent to hospitals with minor injuries, The Associated Press reported, citing officials at the state-run National Emergency Management Agency.
Some 1,100 students from the Busan University of Foreign Studies were attending a student council-organized welcome event at the Mauna Ocean Resort in the southern city of Gyeongju, according to The Korea Herald newspaper.
The building caved in on them at around 9:16 p.m. local time after a heavy pile of snow built up on top of it, according to broadacaster KBS World.
Soldiers were involved in the rescue operation according to YTN TV news.
