Andrea Ihlefeld sent in this striking photo of a sunset in Albuquerque, N.M., in late November 2011.
Ihlefeld is originally from Pennsylvania, but has lived in Albuquerque for more than three years. "I have found winter to be a spectacular time to photograph sunsets in the Southwest," she told TODAY.com.
"On this particular day a cold front approached, bringing with it beautiful cloud formations and a cold winter wind," she said. "At sunset, the sky transformed into this beautiful array of colorful streaks and lit the sky on fire. I have traveled all over the country to take beautiful photos, but I was lucky to find this sunset awaiting me from my backyard."
Ihlefeld said she used a landscape setting on her camera to help capture the vivid colors. She also used a software program to "add contrast and balance colors."
