Recently divorced Russian President Vladimir Putin really warmed up to China's first lady at the APEC summit. Video of a state dinner shows Putin jumping up to place a tan shawl over the shoulders of Peng Liyuan while her husband sat chatting just feet away at Beijing's Water Cube Olympic stadium.
The gesture seemed to catch Peng by surprise: She accepted the wrap with a smile — for a hot second — before swiftly handing it off to someone nearby. Putin, who finalized a split from his wife of 30 years in April, didn't react to the epic brush-off. Footage of the awkward interaction aired live on Chinese state TV but was quickly scrubbed by censors, according to Foreign Policy magazine, which noted: "The first unspoken rule of diplomacy might be 'Don't hit on the president's wife', but Russia's newly single President Vladimir Putin seems to have missed the memo."
