Michigan officials have known about the elevated lead levels in Benton Harbor for three years but just started distributing bottled water to residents two weeks ago. Residents say neither the city nor the state did enough to warn them of the dangers, but the state agency responsible for oversight of the water supply says they’ve been addressing the lead levels all along.Oct. 12, 2021
