Detroit homes over-assessed as residents struggle with property taxes, advocates say


One study shows that the property tax rate for the least expensive homes is more than double that of the most expensive in the same jurisdiction, and those in predominantly Black neighborhoods are assessed at a rate 50 percent higher than white neighborhoods in the same area.
