In Erie, Pennsylvania, Like Many Small U.S. Cities, Refugees Welcome as Boon to Struggling Economies


Erie, a rust-belt city, with a declining population has rolled out the welcome mat for refugees in recent years. Up to 700 refugees from around the world have arrived annually and now make up as much as 18 percent of the city’s 100,000 residents.
