While on trial for murder, Alex Murdaugh denied killing his wife and one of his sons, saying “I didn’t shoot my wife or my son, any time, ever.” Murdaugh also admitted to lying to police about his whereabouts on June 7, 2021, blaming paranoia that stemmed from his opioid addiction, saying he was not “capable of reason” on the night of the murders.
