The future of DACA is in limbo. The Obama-era program allowed young people who were brought to the U.S. as children but who lack legal status to remain in the country without fear of deportation. The Biden administration is appealing a federal judge’s ruling that found the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program unlawful and the fate of thousands of immigrants applying for protection hangs in the balance. NBC News’ Isa Gutierrez reports spoke with one 19-year-old who described “losing hope” as her DACA status has not changed.
